Dear Ryota-san,
An American friend recomended `The Crying of Lot49`six years ago so I read it in Japanese edition. But regrettably,it remained only strange impression. On the other hand, some critics predict he will win a Nobel Prize in literature. Why is he so popular ? Please give me a clue.

I have little knowledge of Thomas Pynchon.
His 'V.,' however, seems to be good for winter reading. So I'll take time reading it in December and January. It'll be my starting point.

I went through V. and I'm halfway through Gravity's Rainbow.
A keyword to the books by Thomas Pynchon, it seems to me, is DEFAMILIARIZATION.
