Simply go over the unclear word. 3. If the book is uninteresting, give it up. 2006.10.22 Sunday

First Steps in Reading English
The most common way of learning an English word, in Japan, is by joining it with a Japanese word which has a sense like the English one. "Head," for example, is joined with the Japanese word "atama." "Water," is joined with "mizu." So most of us keep in our memories statements like these: Head = atama The trouble with this way of learning is that it gives you wrong ideas. 2006.10.01 Sunday
