This is a notebook and guide for learners of English as a second or overseas language, all over the earth. Most of the writings here are in Basic English, first designed by C. K. Ogden, using 850 necessary words and a number of international words only.

Britannica on Basic English
[Last week]
when I was at my birthplace,
to be with my mother and
to see my brother's family,
I took a look at a
copy of Encyclopædia Britannica,
printed in 1968,
and I came across its account of
Basic English.

It was signed "C. K. O."
The writer is very probably
Charles Kay Ogden himself.

an old man who was

going on secret journey
through Japan,
back in the 1690's.
